White Linen Night at Ellio Fine Art in Houston, Texas
On exhibit will be a group of nine new paintings from my Famiglia Series. This work brings together the color and spatial complexity of my previous works with the addition of an increase in surface texture. The Famiglia paintings map the emotional weather of inner and outer worlds. Collected maps appear as both specific references and metaphors for how we navigate belonging. Their layered surfaces hold memories, place, and culture as shifting terrains that invite viewers to pause and sense what lies beyond language. Working with acrylic paint, plaster, photographic fragments, and some new materials like raw pigment and gold ink, I build and excavate skins of color and line until turbulence meets stillness.
